I’m a published writer with a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, Eight Years Teaching College Writing (Composition, Advanced Composition, Creative Non-Fiction, and Research Writing), and experience tutoring international students. In addition I have worked as an editor, journalist, technical writer, and document designer.
I’m also a grad student at Washington University’s George Warren Brown School of Social Work.
What I do
1. Review your paper for logic
2. Review your paper for good, solid argument
3. Comment on vocabulary and terminology, if needed
4. Check for spelling and grammar errors, and typos
5. Check your style formatting (APA, MLA, etc.)
6. Help you figure out how to conform to strict rules of academic honesty.
There are some things I will not do
1. I will not put your paper into format for you! However, I will check it against the style guide (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.), and mark mistakes.
2. I will not re-write your paper for you! I will make suggestions that you may choose to follow, or not. 3. I will never, ever engage in anything that comes near academic dishonesty. As a former adjunct prof I possess a near-religious fervor regarding plagiarism. It is not a good idea to hire me if you think you might not be too strict with yourself about academic honesty. However, if you are unsure whether something in your paper is following the rules I will happily help you figure out how to make sure it is honestly written, with sources cited correctly and other authors attributed [see disclaimer below].
There are some rules
1. I need to see a draft of your paper at least three days before its due.
2. Your paper must be typed, formatted, and spell-checked.
3. I prefer to work off an electronic copy so that I can make notes in Word.
4. Payment for, or deposit on the reading is due in advance; payment for consultation may be made at consultation time.
Disclaimer: Regarding plagiarism: I am not psychic. I do not recognize every word ever written by every author. However, when I do suspect academic or intellectual property dishonesty I will point it out. That is where my responsibility ends.
